Urban Light

The Urban Light Day to Night iPhone/iPod Touch App is a project created as part
of the inaugural course at the University of Southern California devoted to the
design and development of iPhone/iPad experiences. This project was a
collaboration with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and features
the museum’s permanent collection icon Urban Light by American artist Chris
Burden.

From the iTunes app store:

“A time-lapse experience of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s permanent
collection icon Urban Light—the Chris Burden sculpture consisting of 202 vintage
Southern California street lamps located at the museum’s Wilshire Boulevard
entrance. Deemed “an instant landmark” by the New York Times, Urban Light
has since its 2008 installation become a favorite of photographers and sightseers
from around the world. Now this virtual flipbook allows you observe the interplay
of light and shadow around the lamps as day progresses from sunny L.A.
morning to illuminated city night, all with the sweep of a finger. Consider this
beautiful app a memento (or precursor) of your visit to Urban Light at LACMA.
* Time sensitive photo display of installation upon launch of app
* BONUS: Touch enabled light switch”
